October 2010, Miami- JCMAC was proud to lend works to the exhibition Embracing Modernity: Venezuelan Geometric Abstraction. The exhibition presented a historical overview of the origins of the abstract movement in Venezuela, focusing on its early development dating from the late 1940’s to the 1970’s. Curated by Francine Birbragher-Rozencwaig and Maria Carlota Perez, it included works by artists who were responsible for the development of the movement at the national and international level, particularly in Paris where many of them resided at the time.
The show, which was presented at the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum in Miami (October, 2010-January, 2011), featured works by Carlos González Bogen, Omar Carreño, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Narciso Debourg, Gertrude Goldschmidt (Gego), Elsa Gramcko, Gert Leufert, Mateo Manaure, Alfredo Maraver, Nedo, Ruben Nuñez, Alejandro Otero, Mercedes Pardo, Jesús Rafael Soto, and Victor Valera.
In addition to lending a significant number of works, Art&Art/JCMAC was the main sponsor of the exhibition. Additional funding was provided by Funding Arts Network.
