Miami, USA –
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the ‘The Ye’kwana Universe / Living in the Middle of the Jungle’ opening event on Tuesday, Nov 29th, 2022.
‘The Ye’kwana Universe / Living in the Middle of the Jungle’ curated by Ariel Jiménez, brings together the most representative objects of this new nucleus of the JCMAC; the ye’kwana collection. Comprised of a considerable number of works of art and utilitarian objects from this Amazonian ethnic group, this addition dialogues with JCMAC’s abstract-geometric center in a way that it both completes and enriches it at the same time.
These works gathered in this exhibition come from the expeditions carried out by Venezuelan explorer Charles Brewer-Carías , who for more than sixty years studied the ye’kwana ways of life, are in dialogue with the photographic work of the Swiss-Venezuelan artist Barbara Brändli (1932-2011) and ye’kwana objects from the C&FE Collection in Venezuela.
