Inside the Music: Sounds of the Earth at The New World Centre

The Juan Carlos Maldonado Art Collection cordially invites you  to view “Inside the Music: Sounds of the Earth – A musical journey through nature” by The New World Symphony (NWS).

This immersive musical experience premieres “Ye’kwana Melodies for Two Cellos” (2023) featuring recordings of ye’kwana singing and instruments from 1963 led by the explorer and researcher Charles Brewer-Carías in the Erebato river, Venezuela. These recordings, part of JCMAC’s exhibition “The Ye’kwana Universe: Living in the Middle of the Jungle” , where loaned to The New World Symphony for the occasion of this concert.

“Ye’kwana Melodies for Two Cellos” (2023) was arranged by Ye Jin Min (Violin Fellow at NWS and a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at Yale School of Music) whom was inspired after visiting JCMAC. Inside the Music series are NWS BLUE projects. Performance part of the Inside the Music series are fellow-driven projects are sponsored in part by the Maxine and Stuart Frankel Foundation and NWS’s Fund for New Ventures. This concert is also part of  NWS X NYU Summit of 2023.
